Offensive Cyber Operations
A strategic and structured programme for understanding how offensive cyber capability is planned, built and managed.
Promestra brings together three senior cybersecurity specialists with long-standing experience in cybersecurity education, digital forensics, malware analysis, cyber operations, law-enforcement training and international capacity building.
We combine academic depth with practical cybersecurity experience. Our work has developed through international education projects, European law-enforcement cooperation, long-term collaboration with Ukraine and specialist technical training.
To turn experience, research and real-world lessons into cybersecurity knowledge and practical capability.
The detailed Promestra story begins around 2011. Earlier defence and security experience provides the foundation; the focus here is the international cybersecurity work that directly shapes what we do today.
Anders Carlsson brings nearly three decades of Swedish military and technical experience, followed by applied cybersecurity work and the Centre for Electronic Security at Blekinge Institute of Technology.
Cybersecurity education and capacity-building expanded through international projects and European cooperation, including work connected with law-enforcement training.
An international higher-education initiative bringing European and Ukrainian partners together to develop practical Master-level cybersecurity education. Anders Carlsson served as General Manager. The work included Digital Forensics, Ethical Hacking, Penetration Testing, Web Security, Malware Analysis and remote security laboratory development.
Intensive international cybersecurity education with hands-on training, bringing together students, educators and specialists. Summer-school activities included Lviv and Kyiv and covered areas such as digital forensics, malware analysis, penetration testing and software security.
PROMIS was created by Dr. Anders Carlsson and Prof. Tony Gorschek by combining experience from two successful education initiatives: the flexible distance-learning approach developed through PROMPT in software engineering, and the advanced cybersecurity education developed through ENGENSEC.
The result was customized university-level cybersecurity education designed for working professionals: combining distance learning, academic depth, practical laboratories and security courses that could be studied alongside professional work.
Long-term cooperation with Ukrainian cybersecurity specialists and continued work around destructive malware, state-sponsored threat actors, critical infrastructure, DFIR and attribution.
Development and delivery of advanced technical education for the European law-enforcement community, including Advanced Decryption and the training of new instructors.
Specialist cybersecurity and DFIR activities, international teaching, Ukraine-related cyber-threat analysis and professional education. In 2025, the Promestra team delivered Cybersecurity in Development within Expert Learning Lab.
We bring this accumulated experience together in advanced cybersecurity education, professional training, exercises and cyber-range-supported learning.
Two new Promestra programmes are now in development. They build directly on our experience in cyber operations, security engineering, professional education and hands-on simulation.
A strategic and structured programme for understanding how offensive cyber capability is planned, built and managed.
End-to-end security engineering for unmanned systems, combining threat modelling, hardening decisions and cyber-range validation.
Promestra is built around people who have developed courses, taught professionals and students, analysed real threats and worked across defence, academia, law enforcement and international cybersecurity programmes.
Strategic and technical understanding of modern cyber conflict, state-sponsored activity and operational cybersecurity.
European cybercrime education, specialist course development, delivery and instructor development.
Digital and Linux forensics, malware analysis, destructive operations and technical attribution.
International course development, university teaching, research and cybersecurity capacity building.
Long-term education cooperation and experience studying cyber threats against Ukrainian systems and infrastructure.
Learning built around cases, laboratories, exercises and realistic cyber-range environments.
Three cybersecurity educators and practitioners whose cooperation spans Sweden, Ukraine and international cybersecurity initiatives.
Experience spanning defence engineering, BTH/CES, European cybersecurity projects, university education, ECTEG/CEPOL training and long-term cooperation with Ukraine.
Cybersecurity educator and researcher with experience in cyber operations, professional education and emerging AI-enabled threats.
Cybersecurity educator and researcher specialising in malware analysis, digital forensics, advanced threats and threat-actor attribution.
Team photographs can replace the initials directly in the next update. This keeps the test build lightweight while the final photo selection is prepared.
A small selection demonstrates the continuity of the work. The purpose is credibility, not to reproduce a complete CV or project archive.
International development and validation of practical cybersecurity education with European and Ukrainian partners.
International hands-on cybersecurity schools in Ukraine from 2016–2019, including Lviv and Kyiv.
Customized cybersecurity education for working professionals, combining experience from PROMPT distance learning and ENGENSEC cybersecurity education. Developed by Anders Carlsson and Prof. Tony Gorschek.
Specialist technical course development and delivery in the ECTEG/CEPOL environment, including instructor development.
Hands-on forensic education and specialist technical training delivered in international settings.
Work around destructive cyber operations, state-sponsored APTs, critical infrastructure, malware and attribution.
Promestra developed and delivered Cybersecurity in Development in a nine-week collaborative learning programme involving participants from major Swedish industrial companies.
Promestra works with selected academic, professional and technology partners where collaboration strengthens the learning environment.
Collaboration around cyber-range-supported learning and realistic simulation. This provides a foundation for future Promestra training that combines expert instruction with practical environments.
The ENGENSEC project and its international education network form an important part of the experience behind Promestra. Historical photographs and selected project material will be incorporated as the visual archive is curated.
